Our Cotton Anniversary

We celebrated two years on August 21st.
A lot has changed since we got married.
Except for our clothes, apparently.

Jake surprised me by recreating our first date
(on December 28, 2009) in Park City, UT.

First stop, Red Banjo pizza.
We requested to eat downstairs, and
no one else was there so we had the place
to ourselves. We ordered the same meal we had
on our first date: salad and the Flagstaff pizza
(pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives),
with no cheese on half.
It was delicious.

The exact spot where we ate in 2009
(the tables have moved since then).

Next stop, Java Cow Coffee & Ice Cream.
We didn't actually get ice cream this time, but
we were able to snap a shot on the cow bench
where we sat and talked that first night.

Then we walked over to the Spur Bar & Grill.
Unfortunately, it was closed, but we
peered through the window at our booth
and reminisced about the live music
and great conversation we enjoyed there.

Then we strayed from our first date theme
and stopped at Yogurtland for some dessert.
When we got home, my brothers were waiting
for us and we played some Super Mario Bros
on the Wii.  Jake will never forget when I
invited him in and he had to face four of my six
brothers on our very first date.  "Bubble up!"

Jake gave me a beautiful bouquet of roses,
cotton pajamas, and a certificate to have my
wedding rings soldered together. I gave him
cut up pieces of his old t-shirts (romantic, huh?),
out of which I will be making him a t-shirt quilt.

Thanks to Jake for planning such a
great night, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Corbett goes to the beach

We don't go to the beach nearly
as often as we should.  So one Saturday
evening when we had no plans, we
picked up some Subway sandwiches
and drove out to Cocoa Beach for
some dinner and relaxation.

Corbett was an angel.
He slept the whole way there.
Then he woke up and lay calmly on a
blanket taking it all in while we ate our food.
Then he was perfectly adorable while
we snapped about a thousand pictures
of his first trip to the Atlantic Ocean.
Then he slept the whole way home.

It was just one of those days
when everything in the world seems right.

(Well, except for maybe that U of U beach chair)

2 months!

Here are Corbett's stats from
his 2 month check-up:

11 lbs 11 oz
23 1/2 inches

He's a growing boy!
50th percentile for weight
and 75th percentile for height.

He has gone from being our
"little monkey" to our "chunky monkey."

I was dreading taking him to get shots,
but it wasn't too bad.  He was kind of grumpy
anyway (he was getting hungry), so the shots just
made him more grumpy. But then I fed him and he
was fine, and I had some Yogurtland and was fine.

At 2 months, Corbett is smiling a lot
and making the most adorable cooing sounds.

He loves sucking on his soothie and his fist.

Corbett is so snuggly, and loves to cuddle
with his mommy and daddy.  We moved him
into his own room, and he is sleeping about 8 hours
a night (!), as long as we swaddle him up and
turn on his white noise machine.

He loves bath time and going on walks,
but he HATES driving in the car.  You know how
driving puts most kids to sleep?  Well, not Corbett.
If he's not asleep when we put him in the car then he
pretty much just screams until he gets out.
It's a good thing we're flying and not
driving out to Utah next week.

He's had messy blowouts in Huggies
and leaked right through Up & Up (Target brand),
so we're sticking with Pampers.

Corbett gets a lot of attention wherever we go,
and the 3 comments we hear the most are:
1) Wow, look at that hair!
2) What beautiful eyes!
3) He looks just like his dad!

I typically respond with:
1) I don't know what to do with it.
2) It's the only thing he got from me.
3) We'll never need a paternity test on this one.

We sure love our little guy.
Happy 2 months Corbett!
