Christmas Day 2012

Baby's first Christmas was
pretty adorable. Corbett was just old
enough to enjoy both the gift wrap and
the gifts inside. Jake and I sure loved
watching him take it all in (and I mean
that both figuratively and literally).

Corbett's Santa stash

We spent Christmas morn and
afternoon with the Poulter family,
which is always a good time.

This year all the boys got
Nerf guns, and let me tell you there
was a steady stream of foam darts
flying throughout the house all day.

In the evening, we joined the
Deines/Corbett side of the family
for dinner and more presents.

Christmas 2012 was another great one!
We are so glad we could be in Utah
and spend it with our families.

Christmas Eve Roundup

We were blessed to spend
another Christmas in Utah with
our families. As per usual,
it was a whirlwind!

On Christmas Eve, we got Corbett
dressed up in his finest (my dear
friend Morgan knitted this sweater).

Then it was off to the traditional
Norwegian dinner with the
Deines/Kilgore side of the family,
where Corbett got to spend some
time with his great-grandparents,
Jim and Virginia Corbett.

We opened a few presents
(as you can see, Jake was REAL
excited about this calendar).

And then it was jammie
time and off to bed!

Well, for the baby at least.
Some of us still had work to do...

Lastly,
"the stockings were hung
by the [armchair] with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas
soon would be there."

Haircut #2

I'll admit that it's hard to watch those
curls drop to the ground, and I
feel bad disappointing family and friends
who beg me not to cut his hair.
But it's also awkward when strangers
ask if my baby is a boy or a girl.
Thus, another "boy" haircut was in order.

We took Corbett to Aunt Brittany
for his second haircut. Once again
Corbett took it like a champ.

All boy now:

A Seaworld Christmas

With all of the other theme parks
in our backyard, we do not make
it to SeaWorld very often.

However, we have always been
impressed when we have gone.
Christmastime was no exception.

Highlights included:

Spending time with
the O'briens (Kevin is a
fellow resident with Jake)

The views from the Sky Tower,
including the Shamu stadium
and the Orlando temple!

The sea lion and otter show

The decorations

And last but not least,
we discovered the yummiest
dessert: S'mores cobbler.
Unfortunately, we learned it is only
a seasonal item and I cannot
find the recipe on the Internet!

We may have to make a
special trip to SeaWorld this
Christmas just for that dessert.

Baby Elf on the Shelf

When we dressed Corbett
up in his little Santa pajamas,
we noticed a strong resemblance
to this popular Christmas gimmick.

Naturally, this called
 for a photo shoot.
300 (or so) pictures later,
this is best we got:

We think he's a lot cuter
than the original Elf on the Shelf.

Corbett's signature features

1) the curly hair
2) the big blue eyes
3) the two tiny teeth

And if we're being totally honest,
#4 is the spit up on his chin.

Still, what a cutie!
